ANIMAL COMMUNICATION FAQ
What is an animal communicator?
An animal communicator is someone who talks to animals and translates their thoughts and feelings for you. An animal communicator is not a behaviorist, trainer or pet psychologist.. but they can help you to understand your pet's thoughts & feelings. For more information, read What is an animal communicator and other resources in the article library.
How does animal communication work?
It works using telepathy, the process of transferring thoughts and feelings directly from one mind to another. The word telepathy comes from the Greek “tele” meaning “distant” and “patheia” meaning “to be affected by”. The messages I receive come in different forms including words, phrases, images, feelings, sounds and smells. As an animal communicator, my job is to translate these messages and act as a mediator between you and your animal, communicating messages back and forth.
What sort of problems can an animal communicator help with?
Animal communication can help you get to the bottom of behavioural problems, health issues, mental anguish and emotional stresses. It can also be used to prevent problems in your animal by discussing upcoming changes with them (for example moving to a new home, a vacation or getting a second animal). Animal communication can be an indispensable support tool in grief and end of life decisions, including communication with animals in spirit.
Is there anything I shouldn’t use an animal communicator for?
Animal communication is never to be used as a substitute for professional veterinary care. I am not qualified to give a diagnosis or medical treatment, but I am able to convey to you where an animal is in pain, or their opinion on the usefulness of various medications. Animal communication can also help correct behavioural issues, but is not to be used as a substitute for proper behavioural training.
Do animals understand our words?
Yes and no. An animal that has been around people for some time will come to recognize varied complexities of words and phrases like “bath” and “walk” but animals are much more in tune with the subtle language of our thoughts and feelings. That’s why many times it appears our animals know what we’re thinking, like the dog who brings you his leash before you even finish thinking about taking them for a walk.
How accurate are you?
It would be unethical for any person working with telepathy to claim constant 100% accuracy. Telepathy is a subtle art and errors can occur at times. Sometimes the messages are clouded, and sometimes the information is related to a previous owner. I do my best to interpret messages accurately and tend to average a high accuracy rate of 90%. Please keep in mind that communicators are human, some days we do better, some days worse. An animal communicator is a translator, and on occasion we select the wrong word to translate, which can skew the meaning. It is very important that you tell a communicator immediately if something sounds incorrect so that we may explore and clarify the original message.
What types of animals can you talk to?
Dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, birds, reptiles, horses, fish, macropods, insects… I haven’t found a species that can’t be communicated with yet! Of course animals have free will and occasionally they do not WANT to be spoken with however a shift often occurs within a few moments of clarifying our intention.
Is distance an issue? Don’t you need to spend time with my pet in person?
I have worked with countless cases where I have never met the animal. Telepathic animal communication occurs by distance, so whether I’m in the room with your animal or oceans apart the messages are equally clear. In fact, I find it more effective to work by distance in the quiet of my own environment to prevent any distractions to myself or your animal.
Can you speak to deceased animals?
Speaking to an animal that has crossed over is exactly like speaking to an animal that is present today. While the energy can feel subtly different, the quality of communication is the same. Speaking to an animal that has transitioned (animals in spirit) can help to resolve much of our emotional attachment to the death and grieving process. Pet loss brings up many emotions, questions about rainbow bridge, whether your pet will return to you, and a longing to pass on loving messages to your pet. An animal communicator can help you to reconnect with your lost pet with compassion and love.
Can an animal communicator help me choose the right pet?
Yes, and animal communication is a great way of doing this. Together we can talk with the animal you are considering obtaining and ask them if they are interested in becoming part of the family, if they will agree to respect existing family members (human and animal), their history, expectations, needs and anything else that you would like to discuss before you bring them into your home. This type of consultation is particularly beneficial when selecting an animal from a shelter and animals with special needs. You may also like to use this type of consultation to get the opinion of existing animal family members on selecting a new animal.
Why do people consult animal communicators?
Most people don’t consider an animal communicator until all conventional approaches have failed. When you have a problem with your animal which appears to be unresolvable, you may consider having an animal communicator discuss the issue directly with your animal. Of course, animal communication need not be the last resort. In fact, many people recognize the benefits and tend to use animal communication “pro-actively” rather than “re-actively”. Approaching the animal directly can save time and money trialling remedies and adjustments that don’t address the source of the issue.
What’s the difference between a pet psychic, interspecies telepathic communicator, animal intuitive and animal communicator?
There really isn’t a difference. In essence all communicators use the same or similar techniques to translate messages between person and animal. As there is no governing body for this type of work, not all communicators are equally skilled. Choose your communicator carefully, you may like to read the guide How to choose an animal communicator
Can animals tell us when they are ready to cross over?
Yes they can, and this is one of the most important times to speak with your animal. Some animals request assistance to pass over whereas other animals insist on having a natural death. Some animals are well and truly prepared to die yet their owners procrastinate for fear of making the wrong decision. Animals give us signs when they are ready to cross over and this is something that can be set up in a communication session. Each situation is very personal, and it is important to respect the needs and requests of your particular animal friend.
ANIMAL HEALING REIKI FAQ
What animal healing techniques do you use?
I use a combination of animal healing techniques, tailored to your pets individual needs. As an accredited reiki practitioner, I offer traditional Usui Reiki for distant animal healing as well as a variety of shamanic healing techniques and animal chakra cleansing. I use animal communication to tune in with your animal and find out the techniques which will be most beneficial for their wellbeing.
How does an animal healing session work?
The majority of my animal healing sessions are conducted remotely. I connect with your animal and ensure that they are happy to receive healing. Once a connection is made, energy transfer occurs to assist the animal in their healing process. For more information, visit the animal healing page.
Is distant animal healing as effective as in-person healing?
Absolutely. I have worked with animal clients throughout Australia and worldwide. The energy transfer occurs regardless of distance, just as it does with animal communication. In fact, countless animals have told me that they prefer distance healing treatments to in-person treatments. Many animals who are fearful, sensitive or have experienced a trauma say that distant healing treatments feel safe and non-invasive.
What are the benefits of animal reiki healing?
The healing techniques that I offer aim to restore balance and wellbeing to your animal. It improves their quality of life and is particularly useful when emotional and physical issues are present. Animal healing has many applications and the benefits are wide-ranging. My human clients say that their animals become happier, experience significantly less pain and anxiety, and often adjust their 'negative' behaviours. Animal healing is an indispensable support tool for animals who are transitioning or approaching the end of their lives.
How do you know when a pet is receiving healing?
As a practitioner, I can tell that an animal is receiving healing by sensations I feel in my hands and throughout my body. When an animal has had enough, they will tell me telepathically, and the sensations cease. As a guardian, you might notice your animal in a deeply relaxed state during healing - some animals will sigh, yawn or doze off. But not all animals show these signs, some are happy receiving their healing while they are moving around.
How many healing sessions will my pet need?
Every animal is different. Each have their own history, ailments, issues and blockages. I've worked with animals who have shown healing right from the first session. Sometimes that's all they need, other times they will need consecutive treatments for healing. Offering a series of healing treatments tends to work best. I will work with you and your animal, and we can assess the progress along the way and make adjustments as required. More information is available on the animal healing page.
How do I know if an animal healer is genuine?
There are many wonderful animal healing modalities for which there is no official qualification, so it can be tough to sort the genuine healers from the rest. A good way to start is to check what qualifications they DO have, see if they are accredited by any reputable organizations. Ask them what training they have undergone and get a feel for how much experience they have. Do they claim to be able to 'cure' or 'magically fix' your animal problems? Read their testimonials and ask if you can speak to past clients. Ultimately, see if you 'click' with the healer, and if they feel genuine to you.
Do you offer distant reiki healing for people too?
Yes. My energy healing services are available for all species, including humans. Contact me to discuss healing options for you and/or your animals.

CONSULTATIONS FAQ
Will my pet share confidential things?
Our animals are very loyal and respectful of our boundaries. They will not tell me anything which they feel will shame or offend you. As well as this, everything discussed in our communication is considered to be strictly confidential and will not be disclosed to others without your expressed permission.
How do you know when you’re talking to my animal?
Once I connect with your animal the messages come through loud and clear. Usually the first few minutes are spent getting to know each other - I get an impression of the animal’s personality which you will be able to verify. Throughout the session there are often countless, specific details which serve as validation.
What happens if my pet won't talk to you?
As well as being an animal communicator, I'm a trained therapist and I utilize many counselling techniques in my animal communication work. It's extremely rare that an animal won't talk. I always ask permission, and I can gently discuss any conflicting interests with your animal. In the event that an animal will not communicate with me, there will be no charge for the service.
Should I only call you if I have a problem?
You can call for a consult on a range of topics, they needn’t be 'issues'. Some people ask me to communicate with their animals for a general check-up and to see if there’s anything that can be done to improve the animal’s quality of life and relationship with their humans. You may also like a communication for situations like an upcoming holiday, new home or new family member (human or animal). This type of consult can be useful for preparing your animal friend and preventing issues from occurring.
Can you convince my pet to stop a bad behaviour?
No more than a human counsellor can convince a human client. Animals have free will and I cannot STOP them from doing something you don’t like. I can, however, discuss the situation with them and explain your point of view to them. Often resolution does occur but it cannot be forced. Many undesirable behaviours stem from unhappiness in the animal; unable to rely on words, they perform actions to show us how they feel. The best chance for resolution is when both parties respect each other and are willing to do their part to improve the situation.
How can I get the most from my animal communication session?
Start by being prepared. Take time to think about the questions you want to ask. When you receive the responses it’s important to keep an open mind. Animals don’t necessarily respond the way we expect or want them to and it’s important not to dismiss their messages as “silly” or “wrong” as this will only do more damage.
What questions can I ask an animal communicator?
There really isn’t a limit to what can be asked. Don’t assume that your animal will talk about something unless specifically asked. To get you started, here are some basics:
- are you happy?
- why won’t you use the litterbox?
- how can I improve your quality of life?
- why did you choose to live with me?
- why do you bite?
- would you like a playmate?
- are you ready to cross over?
- what do you think of your person?

FOR THE SKEPTICS FAQ
I’m interested but I’ve never tried anything like this before, I feel sceptical.
There’s nothing wrong with a healthy dose of rationalism. If you’ve never had the experience of animal communication then it’s understandable that you may feel uncertain. The best approach is to go in with an open mind, and with a genuine desire to hear what your animals have to say. On my website you will find testimonials from my clients, some of whom were extremely sceptical – the results speak for themselves. If you’ve looked through my site and you’re still not sure if animal communication is right for you, feel free to contact me directly and discuss your concerns. There’s no obligation to book a consultation.
I don’t believe in what you do. Do you offer proof sessions?
During a consult, validating details often arise spontaneously and naturally (eg. “Yes my dog does love cereal!” or “How did you know I massage my cat every day?”). However demanding proof or withholding information to “test” a communicator is a wasted experience for all involved. Animal communication is not about making the communicator perform tricks for you or convert you to believing in telepathy. If you are after “proof” of telepathy there are many great books on the subject. I suggest you do some research and decide for yourself what feels right.
Do you have a guarantee?
My aim is to connect with and accurately convey information between you and your animal, with the intent of resolving issues and facilitating healing. Often this will result in changes in the animal’s behaviour (and yours) but this is not something that can be guaranteed. Problems are often multi-layered and while sometimes results occur immediately, many deep-seated issues take time to heal. I cannot guarantee to “fix” your animal any more than your vet can. What I can guarantee you is that I always abide by a strict code of ethics in working with animals and humans alike.
