Totem Animal Series: Magpie Spirit Guide

Female magpies are strong, forcefully assertive. Male magpies are calm, quietly contemplative. There is no species on this earth that demonstrates a more perfect balance of the inner female and male - the anima & animus.
The magpie animal totem is a strong, silent wisdom. It invites us to sing and create with all the beauty in one's heart, and then to fight like hell for what's rightfully ours, for what's there for the taking, for what is within reach. Magpie isn't concerned with the odds, magpie will 'give it a go' at all costs, for she knows the prize is great.
If you take the time to watch a magpie, you will see their true nature. Magpie will take on five to seven rival birds at the same time. She will swoop on animals many times her size and physical strength. Magpie has good, healthy 'pluck' about her. She is feisty and thriving, and yet she still takes time out every day to sing a most creative tune, to contemplate, to observe from a higher ground.
The animal spirit of Magpie teaches that we achieve balance of our masculine and feminine aspects in practical methods. She asks that we swoop and fight when the time is right. He asks that we stop and contemplate in place of acting 'busy'.
Magpie medicine ought to be sung into our bones. They are the finest of carrollers, the most assertive of swoopers. Magpie forcefully defends our right to give life a shot, no matter what the risks, no matter what others believe.
It doesn't matter if we fail, or fall, or injure a wing... this animal totem is about thriving, not just surviving day-to-day. It is time to live life fully, to take assertive action, constructive risk. It is time to invoke the strength of anima & animus.
